FEBRUARY
So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

Early Month:
Enjoy a quiet WINTER'S RESPITE;
Spring is just around the corner.
Remember to KEEP BIRD FEEDERS FILLED;
February can be a difficult time for our feathered friends.
Indulge your green thumb with HOUSEPLANTS;
A living interior plantscape is not only beautiful but also helps clean the air.
Mid Month:
When you think of Valentine's Day and giving/receiving roses, you'll know it's time to PRUNE YOUR ROSES.
It's also time to PRUNE crape myrtles, buddleia (butterfly bushes), callicarpa (beautyberry), your Annabelle hydrangea (but not all hydrangeas), abelia, holly, & pampas grass.
PLANT bareroot roses.
PLANT trees & shrubs.
Take a SOIL SAMPLE to your local Extension office for testing.
START SEEDS INDOORS for your vegetable garden;
the seedlings will be ready to transplant outside for the spring garden after last frost.
Late Month:
TILL your spring garden beds,
AMEND the soil with recommendations from your soil test,
and MULCH.
Bring in branches of FORSYTHIA, flowering QUINCE, and SPIREA. Placed in a vase of water, they will flower in a few days.
